So heres my story. My name is Joey. I am a 9 1/2 year old pit mix. I was rescued from a homeless man when I was approx. 1 1/2 years old. I am the sweetest dog ever. I have great loving parents, a couple moms, Gail & her daughter Ashley & a couple dads, Gails husband Tom and Ashleys exboyfriend Guy. I have a companion, Lily, who is also a rescued pit mix, whom Ive grown up with since she was 3 months & I was about 3 years old. So.... New Years Eve 2015 I went to the doctor because I hadnt eaten in a couple days and then threw up what I had eaten a few days before. At first the doc thought maybe it was pancreatitis, but when they tested my blood my RBC was 22. She told my mom, Gail, that she believed I had IMHA & that I needed to be hospitalized. What a shock!! What the heck is that! My mom felt like she was in a movie where they tell someone something very traumatic & then they cant hear or see right. So off we went. I spent 3 days there. My RBC went up & down, but never over 28. I went home on Sat. Jan 3rd. Since then Ive had diahhrea & a bout with bloody diahhrea so the doc adjusted my meds & now I have VERY loose stools. My mom had to get my meds in liquid form because I couldnt get my pills down. But now my moms together are pilling me with a pill popper. Ive been to my doc several times over the past three weeks & my mom has been in contact with the hospital docs too. Ive been back to the hospital once where they gave me a shot to help the diahhrea, fluids under the skin & an RX to help give me an appetite. My RBC was 24. When 4 days before at my regular doc it was 34, the highest its ever been. I didnt stay though even though I should have because my mom cant afford to keep me there anymore. Its been extremely financially draining on my mom & she doesnt know if she can take care of me anymore. Tonight Im not doing well. My gums are very very pale & I didnt want to eat dinner. Were probably going to the docs again in the morning. Maybe they just need to adjust my meds again. So my mom is wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to get me to eat & to bring my RBC up. She is still a newbie at this whole thing & is at a loss as to what to do. Also, is there anyone who knows of a doc in Las Vegas, NV that specializes in my disorder. Well, thanks for reading my novel of a story. Hoping to feel better real soon. Joey
