So, heres some fun facts about the Ebola virus that no one seems to care about because why focus on the good when you can spread fear and paranoia? 1. Dr. Kent Brantly, who contracted the virus and was brought back to the US for treatment, will be released from the hospital in Atlanta. Why you ask? Because all his tests have come back negative for the virus. In other words, he/we beat the Ebola virus. 2. Though the virus has no cure, and the virus CAN be deadly in 90% of cases, nearly 50% of the patients receiving medical care in Africa are actually surviving. 3. The two Americans brought home from Africa with Ebola were given the experimental drug Zmapp. This was also given to three health workers in Liberia. All who have received it are showing signs of recovery. 4. There have been NO other people infected with the virus in the US. Just the two people who were brought home from Africa, individually, via secure airplane which had its own isolation tents. They were tended to by medical staff covered head to toe in protective clothing. Both were wearing said clothing as well when they moved into the hospital. 5. A total of 77.3 million has been dedicated by two groups alone to fund research of the cure. There are currently multiple solutions created already by American pharma companies that are in different stages of testing. 6. A Canadian health agency has sent up to 1000 doses of a vaccine known as VSV-EBOV to Liberia as of last week. 7. The producers of Zmapp have sent their entire stock to fight the outbreak as well.
