So heres some information from a meeting yesterday that affects everyone who is currently looking for some financial assistance. The Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) are the organization that are in charge of dispersing the funds commonly known as the Vintners Fund, after the Napa Valley Vintners generously kick-started that fund with a $10 million donation. The word is that the NVCF have been in touch with similar organizations in other disaster hit areas in the US to draft applications, procedures etc. What has come from this is that the average time for payment to be received by applicants is 1 weeks or almost 4months. Apparently the NVCF are looking to be quicker than this and are looking to have payments started quicker than this average with no firm commitment as to exactly when this will be. Given that were less than 4 weeks from the quake you / we may be looking at another 8-10 weeks before we see any money from this fund. With that in mind I urge everyone to sign the petition that was started yesterday. While it wont affect anything locally with the NVCF it is a way for your voice to be heard at a time when many people are frustrated by the response time with financial assistance. https://change.org/p/president-barack-obama-declare-individual-assistance-for-homeowners-and-small-businesses-to-help-them-re-build-after-the-south-napa-earthquake
