So heres the deal. Im currently rated with a 60% due to Fibromyalgia, some issues with my spine, and a few other conditions. I have been trying for months to get ANY kind of work that Im physically able to do. I would go into a business that has been advertising that they are hiring and explain the situation with my disabilities. After explaining that I cant stand or walk for more than a few minutes at a time and am limited to lifting 25 lbs or less I ask if they would be willing to allow me to use a stool or something to sit on or make some other reasonable accommodations for me. The only answer I ever get is a flat out no. I have more than 120 college credits as I am working toward finishing two degrees in History-Political Science and Criminal Justice and I cant even get a part time minimum wage job. After about two months of not having any luck on my own, I went to the local unemployment office and talked to the vet rep there. Talk about a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. He told me that the jobs I can see on the unemployment websites are the ones he can see and there was nothing else he could do. At this point I dont even know what to do...Im basically a 28 year old who cant get around without the use of a cane or wheel chair (depending on how bad the particular day is) and have harder time getting even a part time minimum wage job than any convicted felon or mentally retarded person. Can someone please explain how this is happening???
