So heres the deal.... Ive lived in Alaska for a little over 21 years and consider this home. Although I have traveled a bit in my 47 years roaming this planet I have yet to go to the Caribbean. However, thats about to change. I am a humble painter by trade and as such tend to have quite a bit of down time during the long dark we up here refer to as winter. Recently my honey got a job offer to travel to Puerto Rico for the winter season and asked if I would like to come along. With an exuberant YES! I committed myself to the journey. I wont lie. I have reservations. Ive read about PR and watched a ton of stuff on youtube blah blah blah...and see all this stuff about the crime and also the fun in the sun and the tourist traps and also the kickass weather (by Alaska standards anyways) and the wonderful people and food and and and... So you get the idea. Fish out of water. Major friggin culture-shock. Guy outside of his comfort zone. I leave in 4 days. I come back sometime in the spring. In the meantime I will do my best to let you know about my experience in PR and hopefully give you some insight into the jewel of the Caribbean. For better or worse it will show up here. Hope it entertains and thanks for checking it out. Next stop: Anchorage. Then Chicago. Then San Juan. Wish me luck.
