So heres whats happening: got home from work Tuesday and noticed the lower-left portion of my right eye was blocked by a small, crescent-shaped dark spot. It was a long day, I was tired, and my eyes have been wacky for a few years now, so I didnt really treat it seriously. Yesterday I had a stressful, frenzied day at work and didnt notice until I got home that the spot had increased, covering 3/4ths of my eye. I half-heartedly mentioned it to Corry and she immediately said, Sounds like it might be a detached retina. Long story short, after a series of frantic Wednesday night calls to on-call doctors I went to the eye surgeons office this morning. He confirmed a detached retina. While performing a routine exam on my left eye he spotted a small retinal tear, which he easily repaired with a laser right there, in his office. I say easily, for him. It was a horrific ordeal for your favorite old goat mailman. Im scheduled for surgery on my right eye on Monday morning. Im believing the operation will be a success and my eyesight, while almost certainly diminished, will be saved. All of my friends, please join me and my family in prayers for a successful outcome. My spirits are high - I have a loving, caring wife, a ferociously loyal family and an amazing Church backing me up. Ill be fine, I have no doubt.
