So, heres where my last scheduled appointment with my oncologist left us. Because of the severity of my hands and feet Dr did not want me to have chemo last week either. Two weeks in a row that have been cancelled. (they look so much better and FEEL so much better as well) His concern is that by keeping on going with the chemo, obviously, is that the reaction will do nothing but get worse and possibly spread. He wants to avoid this. There are a few options he put on the table for me. One, is switch the chemo, however, his other concern is what if i have the same reaction only worse. The other is DO SURGERY NOW...which he is fully confident that I am ready for. I almost fell to the floor hearing him say that. But this is a good thing! It means that the tumor I have is shrinking quicker than expected and treatment is WORKING!! Dr. Kim is AMAZING and I completely trust him and where it is he wants me to go. This is only his opinion and as he said at the appointment, he is not the surgeon and therefore cannot determine alone that surgery is in the near future instead of January. Tomorrow, I see Dr Sarkis, who not only did my ulcer repair back in August, but also specializes in the breast. He is an incredible surgeon and I am excited to meet with him again on this part of my journey!! This brings us to yet another BIG during this battle of mine. Excited, nervous, crazy holy cow feelings, and we waiting on the decision that Sarkis, in his professional opinion, will have as to whether or not I am ready for surgery now. This will mean I will be done with treatment sooner than expected. I will still have to go through some chemo after surgery if he decides this is the road I must go on. But it also throws me into some other decisions I need to make....AHHHHHHHH!!! ON TO TOMORROW!!! WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED!! LOL....and hey.....who hasnt had their mammo this year???!!! Go get it done!!!!! ;) love you all
