So here’s the thing, these are recordings of the rehearsals for the Jashn-e-Khusrau festival where we were commissioned 10 kalams of Hazrat Amir Khusrau which we were to set to contemporary interpretations with a modern sound. Since Hazrat Amir Khusrau is considered the father of Qawali, this entire album is set to a Qawali style of vocal delivery while the music takes on a more rhythmic and groove based sound compared to our more classical sounding recordings. We’re really excited about this record and the new style that we’ll get to experiment with. The Track being released tomorrow is called Zeehaal-e-miskeen which is unique because it is macaronic; written in both Persian and Braj Bhasha (Hindi). With each verse containing lines in both persian and Hindi. Stay tuned to the page for more!
