So, how does a person slay the spirit of poverty? How can we break free from limiting mind-sets that try to make us focus on our lack rather than God’s provision? 1. Overcome indebtedness: DEBTORS DON’T HAVE SEED. Without a seed there can be no harvest and this is one of the tricks of the enemy. He wants to perpetuate a cycle of borrowing such that God can’t use us to be a blessing. Here’s a nugget for you: DON’T BORROW FOR CONSUMPTION; that means don’t borrow money to spend on your own personal needs such as clothing, or to buy a car. 2. Position yourself as a seed carrier: In Isaiah 55:10, we read that God will always provide SEED and BREAD; you must distinguish one from the other. Don’t eat your seed and don’t sow your bread. 3. Deal with the ‘not enough’ mindset: One of God’s covenant names is EL SHADDAI and we translate that as the all-sufficient One; the One who is more than enough. The enemy wants you to feel like when you give, you are diminished; but in reality, giving does not diminish you; it’s an investment in your future. 4. Overcome the fear of poverty: Dear friend, this week commit to work on your spiritual life; have definite times of prayer and study of your Bible. When your mind is full of God’s Word, it’s unlikely the fear of poverty will be able to gain a hold in your thoughts. We pray that God’s Word will liberate your minds this week to see endless possibilities! May the Holy Spirit anoint the eyes of your understanding to see that you are more than what you see and the challenges you have faced are not big enough to stop you! We ask all this in Jesus Name. Amen.
