So... how would you feel? And, what would you do? One of my - TopicsExpress

So... how would you feel? And, what would you do? One of my twins has severe dyslexia. I heard about some programs in Indiana that might be able to help him with housing, jobs, etc. I filled out ALL the many papers needed and the form required a doctors signature. I decided to have him see a neurologist who he had seen several years ago for hot flash-type symptoms. My husband took him in since I was working. I sent him with the paperwork, and copies of IQ testing completed years ago by our school district. Anyway, the neurologist took 3 minutes with him in the room, never once touched him, did neuro testing (strength testing, PERRLA, etc.), just handed him a requisition for an MRI and an EEG before he would sign the form. The kicker... the diagnosis written down for the testing was stroke! I was NOT happy when I got home. Called their office with no return call. Drove over to the office and asked for my paperwork back so I could go elsewhere. Told them that I was VERY upset that they would write down that Caleb had a stroke! The gals at the front desk and nurse stated... that is the only way we can get paid! Oh no they didnt? Oh, yes they did!!! I was even more upset at this point. Then, with more urgency once again asked for my original paperwork back... and they said okay, but there will be a $25.00 charge to get them back! I repeatedly explained that the paperwork was MINE, not theirs and I wanted it back! Finally, after repeated conversation and the nurse going into the back office... she came out and said okay, but I would have to wait 5 days, since the chart wasnt at the Shelbyville office. So, we came back 5 days later and without incident reclaimed the paperwork. Then... to my utter amazement... I receive a billing notice from their office... they charged $344.00 for that 3 minute visit for NOTHING! Called our insurance and the diagnosis used to get paid was encephalopathy. Now today, just got off the phone with the office manager who basically feels everything done was legitimate and ethical. What is your take FB friends/family? I need to take one of my BP meds....
