So iam told it was a saturday morning when I arrived on planet earth. Welcomed by nurses at a particular Letaba hospital in Tzaneen....a tinny girl iam told.. I do know the months ahead were extremely testing as mom had to move back home after spending a couple of years studying and working in Tzaneen. She had just secured a job at a school in her home village.. little baby or not she had to start a life with no house, no parents (her parents, siblings and eldest children lived 200ks away in Sabie) So it was me n mom against the world..a young african woman with a small baby in a hostile village.. but we made it in that mud house she moved into before it was even finished. She says it had no windows and she closed the window gap with a sheet of corrugated iron which sometimes fell violently at night, scaring her to death..she says the floor was unlevelled and there were ants all over the place..but I just kept glowing and growing and didnot mind the horrible conditions. Mom says I never cried and unsettled her even in the dark horrible nights when she felt so so scared and alone..she says I just slept peacefully through it all... And we made it! soon our mud house became a home and.....I became me!!!!
