So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. Colossians 3:1-2 MSG Remember the childhood game, Hide and Seek? Its a longtime debate as to who were the best hiders. The buddies who could seek out the best hiding places always found those who were hiding. Hiding was a passive position . . . seeking was purposeful. Hiding was waiting . . . seeking was wanting. Because of our resurrected relationship with Christ, we seek where He sits. Our purpose is His presence. His delight becomes our desire. Robert Murray McCheyne wrote, I rose early to seek God and found Him whom my soul loveth. Who would not rise early to meet such Company? The priority of our search produces the passion of our soul. Jesus reminded us, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. (Matt 6:33 NLT) We Seek To Listen. For Moses, it was a burning bush. For Elijah, it was the still, small voice. For Peter, it was by a shore side fire. When God speaks, are we listening? Too often, the distracting demands of the moment deafen the desires of the Majestic. Jesus tells us, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27 ESV) Take some time and listen to His compelling, comforting and caring voice. Hes calling . . . can you hear Him? We Seek To Learn. The wisest King of Israel, Solomon wrote, Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance. (Prov 1:5 ESV) The heart of a leader is the hunger of a learner. We are all students who sit under the tutelage of a Teacher. Influential instruction inspires. Isaiah wrote, Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. (Is 1:17 ESV) Learn one thing . . . Just one thing from God, today. It will be a life-changer and difference-maker. We Seek To Love. Paul writes to the Christ followers of Colossea, And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. (Col 3:14 ESV) The practice of love is powerful. Seeking love leads to showing love. We find love in order to help, not hoard. In a letter to another fellowship of followers, Paul wrote, Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. (1 Cor 13:4-6 ESV) Seek to love . . . to just one person . . . by just one expression . . . with just one word. The famous explorer, Arthur C. Clarke said, All explorers are seeking something they have lost. It is seldom that they find it, and more seldom still that the attainment brings them greater happiness than the quest. Its completely different with the One Who discovers our souls. God reassures us that if we seek Him, we will find Him. (1 Chron 28:9) The Savior is worth the search. Listen. Learn. Love. Seek Him today . . . with all your heart, soul and mind.
