So im going to end up rebuilding my S13 sr20 for the winter cause - TopicsExpress

So im going to end up rebuilding my S13 sr20 for the winter cause it seems cheaper rightnow then getting my S14 sr up and running, my question is has anybody ever done just rebuilding the bottom end, like just having the crank checked/machined and making sure the rods are ok, and replacing washers bearings, replacing oil pump and putting it back together and running it like that and just run it stock ? I know its not the right way but i need to take out my KA cause its about to go and its smoking and leaks etc. and i would want to do a full rebuild on that and i need a car running cause its my daily and only car, besides my other s14 shell / so ya im wondering if it would be ok just doing that and just running stock HP and PSI. Again i know it would be better to just replace rods and redoing everything but like everybody else, money is tight and cant really spend alot rightnow on a full rebuild. reason for me not finishing my other sr20 is cause i need to replace the head gasket and i need to get my ECU chipped and tuned and i also need a turbo for it aswell and i added everything up and it would cost me $400 to tune ECU and chip, $180-200 for head gasket and 200+ for a turbo and thats not counting gaskets and such. so total would be like $800-1000. :( so thats why i want to fix up my s13 sr20 cause i already have evreything to make it run and ill just be running it stock. thanks for any info and advice. :)
