So, im on my way home after an afternoon out having cocktails. This young chick is speaking loudly about how her Chinese mother would be so upset if she had gay friends, but she doesnt falter. Then she talks about the expectation of her to find the perfect man and how she should live in this particular part of Hong Kong...on and on as teens do. Her friend sitting next to her acted as the voice of reason. Combating the chinese mothers ideals and preaching about how her friend could never determine her own outcome, regardless of hope. They were both about 16 and clearly of a new regime in upbringing. I wish I was young enough to relate to them, but though I am not doesnt give me any less hope for the evolution of man as we know him. What is being taught is the justification of oneselfs own ideals. That no matter how young you are, you can be heard, and moreover, understood.
