So, in an effort to avoid surgery, we are trying cortisone injections first. Ankle very sore tonight - comes with physical assessment - does this hurt? ...how about this? .....and what if I push really hard on this spot?....now flex your foot and Im going to push on it and poke my thumb into the spot that youve identified as painful and sensitive already- tell me if it hurts. Sheesh, I know it has to be done, but wowsers, Im sore. Followed by a nice big needle of steroids. Back in six weeks for re-assessment. If working, second injection. If not, will need to look at surgical options. Wish theyd figured this approach out back in February when I first went :(
