Generally, when we treat others with dignity, respect, and love, we would hope they would reciprocate this. Some do- some dont- when others dont, that doesnt give us permission to regress, to emulate their behaviors. What it does is give us the opportunity to walk in dignity and grace as we strive to be as Jesus would be. Speak the truth- people dont have to like it or agree with us, but we need to do it anyway. Live by the truth- there will be times we will be put down and made fun of, but we need to do it anyway. We cant force anyone to turn from their lives of sin, but we can continue to be examples of Christs love even in spite of their wickedness and cruelty.
