So in retrospect, I have another new answer for that old question: If you could sit down and have a chat with anyone, living or dead, who would it be? Todays answer? Eartha Kitt. Beyond the fact that she had a remarkable singing and acting career, AND that she had an amazingly upbeat and positive attitude in general for some of the things she lived through... She was someone who you could see STILL had something near the end of her years. At nearly 80, if you look at her interviews and all the video/etc of her.. She acted, sounded, and looked for all the world like a woman of 40. She still had the catwoman purr that made her famous, and had absolutely NO qualms about using it. Moreover, she seems like a woman with a million stories to tell, and I seriously just wish I could sit down to Storytime with Eartha.
