So, initial testing of the fresnel lens is promising! Ive measured it out to 26 by 46, so roughly 8 square feet of lens. Its still a bit cloudy/dusty, and I dont have a proper rigid frame for it yet, but when I tested it on some solar cells, things got interesting. Even at roughly 4pm, after a few seconds of focusing on the solar cells I started hearing crackling. A few more seconds and all the solder melted off the connections (370f), and finally the cell started cracking all over. So... I dont have quantitative data yet but I would estimate I am getting well in excess of 500 degrees f so far. Fresnel lenses. Its like a magnifying glass, but way hotter and with more science!
