So it almost 1230 east coast time. 23 years ago it would have very early on a Friday. My parents and sister had arrived early on Thursday afternoon from their visit to my brother who was at Annapolis Naval Academy. My husband and I were living in a pretty brownstone in a very historic area in Connecticut. At dinner on Thursday my dad joking with me said you have never listened to me before but I want you to listen now! You need to have that baby while your sister and I are here(they were leaving on Sunday, but my mom was starting). Well during the night I got up to use the restroom, woke Woody up. He called the doctor. Helping me get dressed, the phone rings- I hear my sister yelling from the living room" Who the hell is calling at this time of the night?" Chaos ensues- this is the first grandchild, my water broke, I crying, my mom is crying with me and hushing me. My dad comes out of the guest room, woody take her to the hospital, Karen go back to bed and you too carol.... To be continued
