So it has been a few days now and I have been trying to think of what to say about my sweet freind Larry Johnson. When I think of early morning runs i think of Larry. Bright tights, big grin, seat warmer on in his car, always ready for a coffee. I dont remember much about the first weeks of running with the crew but i sure do remember Larry. He was, after all the the man who sucked me into the group that would be my early morning buddies for 15 years. I could always count on Larry to goad me into another run, another morning, a shorter run, a longer coffee. He hauled me to the pool and turned me into a swimmer sort of. He would walk when i needed to walk and drag me into a run when i wanted to walk but needed to run. He chased, pulled, goaded, hauled, bribed me up University Hill too many times. He never judged me about anything, he helped me learn to not judge myself. He would say, after I spilled my guts about some presumably horrible thing i had said/did, Pfffftttt...who cares what (fill in the blank) thinks.... He helped me run lines, helped me shoot hoops, crossed the barrier of personal space too many times to count, but as most of you know me...I have a very small personal bubble, so no big deal!! For me Larry was there heart wide open, always making me laugh, always ready with a hug and So nice to see you. He is probably the one from the crew I am the closest too, but he was instrumental in connecting me with Susan Byard Toyata through our swimming lesons, introduced me to Randy Isaac and Brian H. He even came to visit me a couple times in Williams Lake when he and Brian were off working in the area. For me Larry was my link to the rest of the group. Many of the morning crew who i now call friends, I met through Larry! I hadnt seen Larry in about 3 years and then this August I saw him . On August 30 I was sitting in the Timmies by the CN centre with my son and husband and he walks through the door. A huge smile an big hug and a quick checkin. 15 minutes...too short. Thank you to all who are posting pictures....Tanya Hall-Carter I remember this running get together. Great fun was had. I MISS YOU LARRY CANARY. xoxoxoxo
