So it looks like the makers of Emojis are going to introduce new, ethnic Emojis depicting the many different ethnic backgrounds of Emoji users. Pretty much, a person can choose an Emoji that represents their ethnicity and all the rest of their Emojis will have the same appearance. Pretty much, if I chose to do so, all of my Emojis will be looking Asian. Although I think its a neat idea...I can already see the backlash from it. 1) Some people will get offended because it is depicting their ethnic background stereotypically; i.e. Asian emoji with a Fu Manchu stache and rice patty hat 2) Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will say it negatively depicts African Americans because the Emojis resemble gorillas and monkeys 3) White apologists will be outraged at how a company can be so insensitive to ethnic and cultural issues. 4) Normal people will have to sit back and listen to dumb asses fight about how racist it is.
