So, its been a few days since I have updated. I have to tell you that I have had a lot of things weighing heavy on my mind. It has never been such a struggle as it is now for us financially to keep Whippoorwill running. I am NOT sharing this with you for reasons of asking for donations but, instead I feel that in the past, I have shared all the joys and heartaches so ... why stop now? When we bring horses in, we try and stick to our motto of Saving the horse one life at a time but, there are times that we simply have a hard time of turning one away knowing the horse has no other chance. With this laid on our hearts, it is so tough. Maggie has a baby on the way (or so we think) and Annabelle is still in need of healing to her full potential. We have others that will never ride again or age that will keep them from ever being in a forever home. Broken and un-perfect also means unwanted, in fact a perfect horse can be hard to place. With that said, I do not ever regret taking in one horse we have. God has blessed us with many of those in need and we have met some amazing friends who have since become like family to us. We have watched life grow and improve and amaze us at times. We all have been witness to the impossible miracles and rejoiced together, Now with winter coming on we know with certainty that we can no longer bring in more horses in need. Our hay bill alone is around $180 over about an 8 day period. With feed, vet and medications I have had to cancel needed farrier visits more than once. All of you have donated, cheered us on, loved us and prayed us through many hard times. I never wanted to be a rich person as I know how money can turn a good man bad but, I do wish we had more land and more funds to do more for those in need. We have succeeded just recently in placing two wonderful babies in the most loving home and looking back we have had some pretty awesome happy endings. I never meant for our numbers to get too large but, I guess they have done just that. For this I blame myself and know that in the future I must keep things in perspective by adopting out a rescue before rescuing another. We dont have grass in the pasture and must purchase hay year round. Our place is small but, its nice having our babies close. There are ups and downs on a daily basis but, I wouldnt trade it for the riches of the world. Please pray with us as we face the daily struggles of keeping things in perspective and caring for all the needs. I promise to never lose faith or hopes that things will get better. I know God has a plan. He always finds ways of showing me what we can endure and come out with promise. If anyone out there has horses of their own who could foster a broken one as a pasture mate, please let me know if youre interested in doing so. I love Whippoorwill Horses and I Love you my Whippoorwill family and prayer warriors. ~ This too shall pass ~
