So its been a rough week. Early this week I noticed Archie struggling to urinate and trying to urinate more than usual. I checked to see if there was any blood and there wasnt so I thought that it was more than likely a UTI. It was too late to take him to the vet that night so I stayed up all night with him to make sure he was alright and as comfortable as I could make him and constantly checking to see if there was blood in his urine. The second the vets opened I called just to find out my preferred vet was booked for the day. I went through three different vets until I found one that could take him in which also happened to be my old vet that I hated for several reasons but mostly incompetence. Since it was the only vet that would take him in I took him in just for them to tell me there was a blockage in his urethra and he would need surgery. They also told me they can do the surgery for 1,000-1,500 but he hadnt done something like that before and doubted it would go well. I wasted my time and money there and also was told well if you cant do surgery you can either watch him die painfully and slowly or put him to sleep. Eventually I found an emergency vet that was very familiar with bulldogs who was confident in doing the surgery. Unfortunately the blockage was so severe that they had to do a Scrotal Urethrostomy. He had to stay three nights at the vet and is back with me now and doing fine. They were some kind of bladder or kidney stones they arent sure yet and took them to the lab. But Archie is doing fine now just pretty gruesome where he had the surgery.
