So its my last week at work... Can a get a MASSIVE WOOP WOOP! This is indeed the season of change, endings and new beginnings and as I basked in the gorgeous Sydney sunshine on our long weekend for the first time I felt a sense of excitement that in just 10 short sleeps I would be easing back into the slow sweet hibernation of autumn. I will be honest, having been born in New Jersey, it was a dream come true to move to Australia when I was 13 as it meant a summer that would go forever. Sure we have autumn and winter, but its milder and no snow. Ask me a couple days ago and I would pine about how Im just getting a taste of our blessed beached out summer only to be thrown back into autumn and winter again, not tasting my beloved season of love in the sun till next June (happy birthday to me). But then a change stirred in me today as I looked out to the ocean and it was the sweet memories of the changing of the leaves, the millions of colours falling from the skies in large hand shaped leaves. The magic of snow, a delight my 2 and almost 5 year old daughters have never witnessed. The joy of a cold Christmas, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and the fun of getting really really rugged up to go outside and play in the bounty of winter. And for the first time I realized that something I was not looking forward to initially, is something my soul has missed for 22 years. Sometimes the stuff were not looking forward to is actually the very thing our soul craves, and we just havent realised it yet. Be open in your experience and welcome in that which may not quite yet seem like a blessing. Mel MWAH PS - Week ahead reading coming up... :)
