So, its official, I have been challenged to do the ALS Ice Bucket - TopicsExpress

So, its official, I have been challenged to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by Adio Royster! This challenges purpose is to bring both awareness and funds to ALS, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrigs disease. Here is a brief description from the ALSA website: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. I will do the challenge and I will make a donation, however, I want to make this so much bigger than just me. So, tomorrow at Congregational Church of the Chimes, I will be accepting any funds to sponsor my ice bucket challenge. For every $50 that I am sponsored, I will dump another bucket of ice water on my head. All of the money will be donated to the ALS Association! Lets raise funds together! You know you want to see me pour several buckets of ice water over my head! So please come to church tomorrow and sponsor my ice bucket challenge, we can raise so much money together!! :) #IceBucketChallenge #StrikeOutALS
