So kyun manda aakhiye, jit jamme rajaan. ( why call the women bad, who gave birth to kings).... Guru Nanak Dev ji. Guruparab ke sabko badhai... About 500 years back Guru Nanak Devji, made men and women equal. He forbidden parda in that era, gave equal rights to visit gurudwara sahib to both in that era. Be it the regular days or be it when the women is in her mensutral period, prayers and visiting gurudara were made open to all in that era. He recited this shabad to convey message about women. भण्ड जमिये भण्ड निमिये भण्ड मंगन विआहं (From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married.) भण्डओ होवे दोस्ती भण्डओ चल्ले राह् (Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come.) भण्ड मुआ भण्ड भालिये भण्ड होवे बन्दआन (When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound.) सो कयूँ मंदा आखिये जीत जम्मे राजान (So why call her bad? From her, kings are born.) भण्डओ ही भण्ड उपजे भण्डए बाझ ना कोईए (From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all.) नानक भण्डए बाह्ररा एकौ सचा सोइ (O Nanak, only the True Lord is without a woman, not because of women.) Today we celebrates his birthday but are we following his teachings also? What he did 500 years ago, our so called modern society could not do even today.
