So, last Friday I made Dad watch Big Bird in China, which was so - TopicsExpress

So, last Friday I made Dad watch Big Bird in China, which was so influential in my childhood that I count it as one of the reasons I grew up to be so interested in Asian culture. And I got to wondering about the other main character in the special, the little Chinese girl who acted as Da Niaos guide throughout. According to IMDb, she never played any other roles, and at first, she was surprisingly hard to find on the internet. Until March of 2006, when the special was released on DVD, and she left a review on Amazon! amazon/review/R5EP6RF9UVT8T Which at first was kind of bittersweet, because she posts, {I} lost contact with Big Bird, Barkley and the crew right after the movie. But to {me}, this movie is always the most precious memory. But then I found the following link on the Muppet Wiki, posted December of the following year: muppet.wikia/wiki/Talk:Ouyang_Lianzi I had a conversation with Caroll (Spinney, the Muppeteer who plays Big Bird) and his wife Debi last month. When he said I love you Xiao Foo, I cried. That was our first contact after 25 years. Xiao Foo will always love Big Bird. So then *I* cried. The effect Jim Henson has had upon this world is just...inspirational doesnt even begin to cover it.
