So last Halloween weekend in Whitehorse was pretty awesome and once again a huge thanks goes out to Kate White on Thursday she introduced me to her wonderful staff and the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon. Friday I had a dentist appointment as a month ago I chipped half my tooth out on a popcorn kernel. As my dream is to be a keynote speaker I thought it best I get it fixed. The gap from the chip caused me to have a lisp as I tried to project my voice. Not to mention the odd food particle would come shooting out the newly created space as I talked which might make those in the front row a little less focused on the content of my speech and more on dodging protein bar nuggets. Yes I brush but at -10C hiking, eating meal replacement bars every 2-3hrs its just not practical. I called nearly every dentist office trying to find the best quote. They ranged from $200-600 which at the cheapest I still couldnt afford. I decided Ill have to do it anyway and maybe make a payment plan. I settled on Murraya Dental. I couldnt have gotten luckier with my choice as the staff was wonderful and my tooth was promptly fixed by Dr. John Stern who was not only very impressed by my journey but didnt charge me a thing. Thats right it was FREE! Thank you so very much. Here is the link if your looking for a dentist in the area murrayadental.ca/aboutUs.htm After that Kate her best friend Caleigh Miller and I went to Kates to hand out candy and prepare for a wedding. Yes once again you read correct. MLA Kate is also a Marriage Commissioner who was asked to preform a wedding on her front steps on Halloween night. Lol that was a first for all of us. The theme as it was Halloween after all was Ghostbusters. As you can see by the pics the costumes were AWESOME! So with that said Id like to send a congratulations out to the newlyweds David and Marlene Sutton. May your marriage always be so much fun. After that we went out to a Pizza Party at a house then off to the Hotter Than HELL Burlesque show presented by the Guild and Varietease of Whitehorse. I really loved the show as it showcased some really great talent. Though I must say in part because watching scantly clad women dancing provocatively on stage while I sit in the front row only feet away was a very welcome change. Lets face it Ive basically been a lone walking monk for the past 7 months straight. Saturday Kate had booked me an appointment to get an hour and a half massage at Hand Prints massage therapy by her friend Shauna. It was both painful and pleasurable at the same time but the end result was amazing. It felt as though my muscles had loosened up increasing blood flow. Although always on the move the repetitive strain with hauling all that weight shortens your muscles and tendons so stretching is constant but even then seemingly not enough. In the off season Ill have much work to do. Once again I found myself at another get together. This time it was at the Boréal Mountain Biking club which is also a B&B and where Ill be stating tonight. Check it out borealebiking.ca Sunday I went for a nice long pack-less walk then off to Kates parents house for dinner. They meet every Sunday and all seem to be invited friends and family alike. It was a feast for royalty. It was nice to have a social life if even for a few days. I hadnt posted as I just wanted to enjoy it without the deadlines. I felt reinvigorated so when I hit the trail yesterday I did 55km with relative ease. I do have yet another great story for ya but Ill post later. Right now at the time of this post Im in Carcross Yukon which has a great history along with Tagish. I looking forward to sharing what Ive learned and last nights sketchy Grizzly story. Have a great day EH!
