So, last night they had a docu-drama based on the exploit of probably the worst All Black number 10 in the last 40 years, who managed to lose two tests, and nearly lose another, until he was subbed after he had missed several kickable goals against the French. Luke McAlister came on and subsequently kicked all the remaining penalty chances. They made a biopic about this guy who managed to kick a single penalty goal in over 40 minutes, and the captain didnt risk him trying to kick any of the remaining penalties. OMFG. The only worse player on the day was Piri Weepu, who had an absolute shocker, and could well have cost us the game. No mention was made of the fact that when Andy Ellis came on in place of Piri Weepu, the game solidified and the All Black forwards controlled game, harried and hounded by Ellis for the last 15 to 20 minutes of the match and who took the most important kick, which was the final penalty: he did what Stephen Donald couldnt do against the Aussies the year before, that is, kick the ball as far as possible into the grand stand so that there couldnt be any chance of the French getting their hands on the ball and launching a final attack. Andy Ellis, yours was the kick! Note that because of Stephen Donalds limitations, we didnt get any more scoring chances. No amount of glossing over things will ever change that. Yes, you are a better than average provincial players, but you could never cut the mustard at international level.
