So last nights ER visit was kinda.....(can you call an ER visit bipolar?). The staff was WUN-derful. But frankly, the bill will be thousands of dollars (most of which will be handled by Sperm Donors medical insurance in the interest of full disclosure). We were literally there for (I lost count, seriously) something like 5-7hrs. They didnt run ANY tests. No MRI. No bloodwork. Nothing. They blamed everything on the fact Ive been letting her read a little bit at home (she cant do ANYTHINGelse) and her brain is too stimulated. They rxd a simple GI med for the vomiting blood episodes that her Ped could have called in from his office. Im supposed to impose a total brain break on a 10 yr old. No tv, computer, no reading, no puzzles, no coloring books, nothing. Yeah. I see that happening. Is she supposed to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling tiles? In retrospect, I wish we would have stayed home. They asked many times if she was following up with their Concussion Clinic out of their Sports Rehab Division. And they seemed extremely happy when I reported I had independently called and made a neurology appt at Cleveland Clinic for her. In other words, they have no idea and hope someone else figures this out.
