So lets go over Sherbrokes new rulings pertaining to animals: - TopicsExpress

So lets go over Sherbrokes new rulings pertaining to animals: From what I gathered from reading La Tribune this morning: 1:The number of permitted animals in one household remains at 4 BUT you can apply for a special permit (for free) to own more as long as you dont live in a residential area (apartment) and all the animals are fixed and never leave the property. Still dont know where that magic number come sin to play, but as long there can atleast now be acceptations to the rule it makes it better. 2:ALL animals from shelters, PET STORES and SPAs are to be fixed before adoption or buying. 3:It will be the law to have all cats fixed. A grace period of up to 2 years will be permitted to get the operations done. *****I agree with this mostly because of the DOZENS euthanized every week because they are abandoned and unwanted!!!! 4:It will be illegal to leave any dog tied for longer than 12 hours a day 5:It will be illegal to leave a dog alone for longer than 24 hours. $50 to $1,000 fines applicable. Not sure how I feel about focussing laws on people who own animals and do take good care of them (forcing pets to be fixed) when the actual problem is with the ones that dont, but it will help with backyard breeding greatly. Now, anywhere in Sherbrooke, if you are breeding animals to sell them on the internet or anywhere else, it is officially ILLEGAL to have more than 4 animals in your home. However, I dont see anything written that will help stop the GIVING or selling on local internet or Facebook pages of unsterilized animals. Hopefully there is something in there. Mind you, if it will be the law as of January 1st that ALL cats be fixed, I guess having one that is not fixed and trying to give it away or sell it will technically also be illegal to do. It always makes me nervous when new laws are formed because there are ALWAYS exceptions to every rule and you know some people will get caught in the middle of circumstances. All I know is THANK GOD I have my special little permit that hangs on my wall, very proudly I might add, from the government saying we are LEGAL and permitted to have all our animals:)
