So lets think about this.... Front page news in the New Vision: Ugandan government leaders complain: Americans Rush to Adopt Ugandan Kids. Referring to the recent rise in adoptions by American families over the past decade or so. They are referring to around .00045% of total Ugandan orphans (currently around 500 out of around 1.1 million). Seems to be a distraction from what is truly going on... Some one please tell me anything the government is currently doing to help these children directly? Also, local and international orphanages and NGOs that care for the orphans in country (by providing them with food, shelter, education and hope) receive no government assistance. How about, instead of complaining about other people helping the situation, the Government puts their efforts into helping these children themselves? This news article is aimed at alarming Ugandan citizens - taking away the shame the government should feel for doing nothing and making it out to be yet another American trend to fight against. Ugandan brothers and sisters, wake up and tell your officials to DO something. They can- they have the time and money. Its time they use their power to make a positive difference in the lives of these kids. Not distract people from the real issues at hand.
