So listen, Ive been avoiding this, but its like this. Maybe this woman, growing up in the south, ....(Im from the South, no one can tell me thats not a nice heaping portion of racism)...really honestly didnt see any harm in what she said or did. Matter of fact, since she was so blatently careless with her open racism, Im gonna bet it somewhat normal to her environment..But the fact of the matter is that it is wrong, and tasteless, joking, kidding, or whatever else excuse someone wants to throw out there, doesnt matter. The Food Network felt she did not deserve to represent them and thats that. And I agree. Maybe the lesson here is that this conditioning so common in the south is no longer acceptable and hasnt been for wuite sometime. Im hoping that the backlash will serve as a little education for her..and the backlash against the Food Network for firing her will serve as a reminder that we still have these battles and present ignorance.
