So lm going to do a little rant. Last night Ellie and I were in line to ride an attraction at Funland in Rehoboth Beach called The Haunted Mansion. Its not really scary, but if youve never been on it you dont know that. This was Ellies first time. A family behind us in line had a little boy about 5 years old who was terrified to ride. The mom pointed at Ellie and said, Jeez, even THAT little blonde girl is going to ride! This is what I wish I could have said to her: All kids are different, push your kids to explore their limits, but dont mock their fears or force them to do something that terrifies them. Also, NEVER imply that my daughter should be less than your son. She is not perfect, and Ill never say she is, but she is brave and fierce and pretty awesome. And when you tell your son that he should be ashamed because a blonde girl wants to do something he doesnt, you diminish all girls everywhere-my daughter, the little girl with you, me, and yourself. Please, remember that words are powerful. And lastly, my daughters hair color has no bearing whatever on her inner self. Stace out...
