So many guests have been asking for updates of our new additions to the AMA family.. So here is the background! The Boma enclosure at Amakhosi has been very busy lately, as part of large cat conservation and to ensure that the gene pool is not diluted, we moved one of our male lions and acquired two beautiful females from Thanda Game reserve. To ensure that the reserve is not overpopulated we arranged for both females to under take surgery that would reduce the number of offspring they would produce, however during surgery the Veterinary surgeon discovered one female was already pregnant, so the surgery was not performed on her, but was successful on the other. The females have adapted very well and we have discovered that the other female is now pregnant, by one of our males and we are all anxiously awaiting the birth of the cubs. So we will let you know as soon as they each give birth!
