So many new years resolutions will be made and tried to be kept tonight.............I really liked this one and wanted to share......think on this and may your new year be blessed! If you knew Jesus was coming back tomorrow, what would you do? Thats a pretty darn good question. I probably wouldnt clean my garage or mow the lawn, thats for sure. But most of the time, when that question gets asked, I dont think thats the level of answer people want. Those who ask this question are often trying to get you to feel guilt and feel pressure in order to get you to shape up. You better be acting holy and get yourself all fixed up because, Jesus is coming back and theres gonna be trouble. Hey la, hey la, Jesus is coming back. Honesty, I dont think thats the right question. Yes, the second coming of Christ should motivate us, but I think a better question is actually this: If you were fully aware that Jesus was here today, how would you do what you do? Unquestionably, we want to be found holy and blameless when Jesus returns. How do we do holiness? First of all, we must realize that it has already been done: We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all... For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy... Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. -Hebrews 10:10, 14, 17 How do we live out that holiness that Jesus accomplished for us on the cross? For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. -Titus 2:11-13 Read that one again! The same grace that saved us now teaches us how to live in the holiness that we already have in Christ. Thats a completely different paradigm than the straighten up or youre going to get spanked approach most people take to the Second Coming. Which paradigm are you living by today? Gracious Savior, I raise my hands and praise You for Your grace today. I celebrate the truth: You have made me holy by grace, and by grace, You are teaching me to live in that holiness. Search my heart right now. Show me any hurtful ways in me. Free me from false fear and guilt. I wait with hope and great expectation for Your day of return. Amen. -jb
