So many of the job seekers I meet are on the cusp of committing to - TopicsExpress

So many of the job seekers I meet are on the cusp of committing to leaving their current jobs for a variety of reasons: They might be bored, they hate their boss, they dont feel valued or respected, they see their current job as dead end, they hate the culture, they dont want to play the politics, they are sick of the misery of going to their job every day, they want to follow a new (or old) passion...all of these reasons are legitimate reasons to want to change your job. But, when doing so, dont just randomly apply for jobs. Write out what you REQUIRE in a new job. What dont you like in your current job? What did you love about your most favorite job? What are things you might need to change in order to be happy at a new job? Its kind of like people who end up dating loser after loser after loser.....or thinking that moving to a new City will change their lives as if the City is what is making them miserable. Fact is, life change is mostly about changing ourselves, not our environments. We get used to certain things (even if it is misery) and tend to be attracted to what we are used to and find ourselves in similar situations time and again. Just sayin.....
