So many people ask us why we dont publish the calorie content on our recipes--and thats because we have never supported counting calories as an optimal strategy for weight maintenance OR weight loss! In fact, we actually think calorie counting does more harm than good (we cant help but think of those 100 calorie Snack Packs as the perfect example of an absolutely terrible snack that is guaranteed to do nothing to satisfy your hunger, much less supply the nutrients your body needs to stop food cravings, support a healthy metabolism, etc.) And we arent the only ones bashing calorie counting.... These are words you never thought you’d hear from the president of a $2.7 billion weight-loss empire. “Calorie counting has become unhelpful,” David Kirchhoff stated on the Weight Watchers International website. “When we have a 100-calorie apple in one hand and a 100-calorie pack of cookies in the other, and we view them as being ‘the same’ because the calories are the same, it says everything that needs to be said about the limitations of just using calories in guiding food choices.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
