So many people point out the pagan connection to Halloween, but - TopicsExpress

So many people point out the pagan connection to Halloween, but arguably the connection--if there is one anymore--is only there because those people insist on constantly bringing it up: Oh, youre just dressing up and eating candy? Let me explain to you why youre really worshiping Satan! (Its funny that no one has to point out to me when Im worshiping GOD.) When its your mission to convince the vast majority of people, who apparently dont have a clue, what their REAL motivation is for wearing a costume and eating candy, youve gone too far out of your own mind and into THEIRS (and mine)--and youre obviously trying to bring up a connection to paganism that is hardly THERE if you have to make the connection FOR them. I can only assume that you avoid ever eating candy or having anything to do with movies or plays (where people dress up and act as people theyre not) and that you refrain from referencing the days of the week or months of the year or planets of our solar system or even certain given names--many of which have various pagan derivations--and that you avoid using money (American, at least), with its pagan symbols, as well as the Babylonian names of Daniels three friends that even the Bible uses. Or perhaps its just the one day a year that you rule OUT whats okay on any OTHER day (and disregard passages like Colossians 2:16-17,20-23). But realize that Im not ASKING: As some from the other side have said or implied, opposing comments are not welcome HERE either (with very few exceptions--if you want to risk it, at least save a backup copy of your comment). You can continue to use your OWN Wall for that purpose, not mine. Im not opening up a debate here--Im giving the other SIDE of it. On Leviticus 19:28 (just because they often come up as well, when talk turns to pagan things): https://facebook/notes/kevin-paul-moritz/are-tattoos-wrong-today-on-leviticus-1928/10151301247791222 For what its worth, Im not promoting celebrating ANY of these (and have no problem with those who dont)--just countering the accusations of apostasy, honoring Satan, etc., etc., that seem to saturate my Wall at this time every year and, to a lesser extent, at two OTHER times per year. Those who dont share my friends list (and of course NO ONE has the EXACT same list) may wonder what my gripe is, but this is my ONE (and probably ONLY) response to MANY, MANY posts by people who say not only that they dont celebrate Halloween (which is perfectly okay with me), but also that IM pretty much a minion of the devil if I DO--just for giving or receiving candy or dressing up. Enough is enough (although of course people are welcome to continue posting their OWN views on their OWN Wall, and Ive generally avoided opposing THEM on THEIR Wall). Ive eaten more candy all my life than I should, but so far all the harm its done is made me overweight. Dieting one day a year on October 31st isnt going to make a difference. And any dressing up I might do would, if anything, probably be an IMPROVEMENT on what I usually wear.
