So many things happened today. Most good but one really hit home in a hard way with me. A photo of 2 young men who are obviously very much in love with each other was censored by several photography pages, most notably the Nikon Digital Camera Photographers and Enthusiasts. I was appalled at the comparison the admin used to justify deleting the photo. He said that he deleted it for the same reasons as deleting photos of clubbing baby seals, the slaughter of whales and prostitution!! This is the most blatant misuse of admin discretion I have ever seen! And to top it off, a great many of the members actually agreed with the move based on the family values aspect of the page. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, this isnt about family values, its about exclusionary values and hate speech/actions. I have left the group after a scathing post about the appalling homophobic attitudes that these actions depict as well as saying that they should all be ashamed of this event. I could not possibly look the other way and then look my many gay friends in the eye and tell them how much I love them. If you are a member of this group and you are gay consider yourself warned...you are not accepted there and at best are merely tolerated unless you step across that line that was mentioned in the pinned post at the top of the NDCPE page. I couldnt be more outraged by this kind of action.
