So may people have been asking me what inspired me to write this letter on my personal FB PAGE? How did it go VIRAL? Im not sure how it went Viral but this is what happened that evening- That evening after a long day, just before going to yoga- I read this article ndtv/article/india/i-have-been-raped-she-texted-mistakenly-to-driver-who-allegedly-attacked-and-bit-her-631895 It really disturbed me as reading about this issue usually does. I left the class early and walked home(in Mumbai), a small quiet road and felt the familiar “Beware Shenaz, why didn’t you get an extra long tee shirt, you shouldn’t be walking home in tight yoga pants ” feeling again. I reached home and my parents were sitting in front of the TV watching Times Now- Arnab Goswami Debate. I plonked myself on the couch with them and watched the horrific tale unfold. This man had raped a few times before, he was out on bail, he had only been in prison for 3 years, he threatened to stick a rod in the victim glorifying the Nirbhaya Case. A woman called on the show, she said she had complained to Uber about this man who was smirking at her through the car mirror. I identified, I got chills, I had just been in Delhi the day of the rape. I actually contemplated taking an uber cab and going to meet my girlfriend that night. It could have been me.
