So most of my clients are aware that I experienced an acute severe abdominal colic last week and underwent laparoscopic surgery. Im home and on the mend - available for advice and supplies but will be a few more days before Ive got my strength back to do calls. Exceptional back up service is in place. Ive treated a number of colicky horses over the years and, while I empathized before, I do more-so now - the feeling of needing to get up and down and change position and roll without relief from pain. So while I continue to recover, I thought it best to provide some information to the horse community on recognizing signs of colic in the horse. While a large percentage (perhaps even up to 90%) can be medically managed by medications and treatments on the farm, a percentage will be unresponsive and require surgery. thehorse/videos/30559/recognize-colic
