So much has happened in the past few days. The final diagnosis is West Nile meningoencephalitis, but he seems to be stable. Hes more responsive now; he opens both eyes when you call him. He was extubated yesterday, and they performed a tracheostomy, and is still on the vent. Today they went ahead and installed a PEG tube in order to feed him. I imagine hes much more comfortable without all of these tubes coming out of his mouth. I believe tomorrow theyre going to move him to Kindred Hospital, an acute long-term care facility near Sierra Medical Center. My mom says its very nice. I cant thank you all enough for the continued prayers. I believe in the power of prayer, and although his recovery and rehabilitation is going to be a VERY long process, perhaps over a year, I believe that hell come out of this in a much better condition. Perhaps hell even walk again. Im cautiously optimistic. Again, thank you, and God bless you, all of you.
