So much talk about teaching your child what to do if a bad guy came to your school and so on. A bad guy! Really! A 13 yr old child himself. He was a victim as well! Theirs before they were his! Preparedness Im all for but I want to hear more about talking to kids on how emotionally fragile others are and not, at that age, adapt to deal with constant rejection and ridicule. They need to be aware of how their actions and words affect others. It doesnt make them look cool or funny. Oppression of another is never acceptable behavior. The acceptance of others is the only reason they are doing it in the first place and there are better ways to seek acceptance than the gang up of many to sacrifice the one unnecessarily. The hand that helps them up is the one to be respected...not the oppressor. They know that at any moment that oppressor could be oppressing them as well yet they go along with them. Teach them to be aware of the emotional state of another and to go to their aid and befriend them if they seek to be protected from such. Get them help and be their help and you wont have to see anyone be at the other end of a barrel. That is the way they can make the difference! Stand against bullys and if someone is being bullied report it! Is being popular really more valuable than saving the life of another and possibly many? Be the real hero and watch out for those truly in need who arent prepared for the cruelty of others in life.
