So much that I could post about General Synod and the women bishops vote. Of course I am delighted at the outcome, but I am also delighted at the tone of the debate which if we can hold onto it in the wider church, gives me hope that together we can make this work. That wont be true of everyone of course, but it never is. One speech, I dont remember by whom, reminded us of the Labour Election slogan in 1945 ( beyond the memories of most, even of General Synod), now win the peace. The work now changes but it doesnt stop here, and whatever position we take on this (and I feel privileged to hold among my friends those of hugely different views), we are all going to need generosity, patience and as Canon John Spence (the last speech from the floor) so eloquently reminded us, trust.
