So muggins here heads down to the US embassy for what he thinks is - TopicsExpress

So muggins here heads down to the US embassy for what he thinks is going to be a short demonstration against the scandalous decision not to charge the racist cop who murdered Michael Brown in Ferguson. Before I know it, the hundreds-strong, very young and very angry crowd is marching out of Grosvenor Square and has paralysed Oxford Street, completely unplanned. It marches all the way down and then back up. After some time on Regent Street we end up in Piccadilly Circus. Then down to Leicester Square, and through to Charing Cross police station, which had a bit of a rough time of things. No one seems to know where were going or how were getting there. The six coppers who have been sent along with us are desperately running around trying to assert some kind of authority. In any case, it didnt stop there. We marched on to Trafalgar Sqaure, down Whitehall to Downing Street, and had a good go at that lot. Then into Parliament Square, where some rather brusque police officers shoved about an old woman on the march, then pushed and tripped and tried to arrest a group of public-spirited young men who were taking down some very inconvenient fences that had been put around the square. After marching straight through the police line, and past a bizarre attempt by one young protester to gain entry to the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, we made our way to New Scotland Yard. The crowd eventually dissipated to chants of Who killed Mike Brown? Police killed Mike Brown! and Who killed Mark Duggan? Police killed Mark Duggan! It was very long.
