So my birth Name is Luke. Its been a long time since Ive shared this openly because there is an aspect of my spiritual ideology that believes in dropping stories of who we are and our personal history as we evolve on the spiritual journey. When I received the name Alokananda in India in 2006 it was an anointment for me to move from personality to my Soul. Ram Das talks about this, and for many of you who have shifted how you locate Yourself, you can relate to this. We are not our conditioning and taking a spiritual name helps us shift our focus from our conditioning to our essence. Today I realized that I got too attached to a spiritual identity over the years and so now I am returning to the balance of both names... as I am committed to having a foot in both worlds. I am committed to being a world-bridger. Luke and Alok mean the same thing. They mean The Light. Thats who I am and thats what I am here to be. To bring the light of consciousness, the light of bliss into the world. A name doesnt change that. Spirit told me I will reach more people this way. I used to cringe when I heard my birth name; it felt uncomfortable for me because internally I felt : Who is that? I dont even know who Luke was. I have died to who I thought I was many times on this journey and I hope to continue to do so because its humbling. I also felt it would be humbling to share this with you all. Whether you decide to call me Luke, Alok, Aloka, Alokananda, Star Bear or whatever, is great and is up to your preference. I will embrace them all. Much love & happy friday
