So my cousin was away, and I had to go pick up his three kids from summer school, along with three cousins of theirs. Four boys and two girls, all aged between 8-14 years. I arrived on time, was parked outside with the engine running, they started to arrive one by one, getting into the car. “Shouldn’t you begin with Good afternoon?”, I scolded one after another with exception of the first to get in. Meanwhile, before they arrived, the music had been playing. Now, I don’t do much hip-hop, but since I do my mixes myself, I occasionally let in one or two hit tracks... Er...unfortunately, Bad meets Evil was on the turntable while I was waiting. So I was a bit worried, but I figured three and a half minutes of fast-flowing speech wouldn’t do much harm anyway. Besides, I thought they might not even know what was being said, so I let Eminem swear on. Thankfully, they kept quiet, perhaps aided by the scolding. I concluded I could as well let them enjoy the next track... ‘Mirror on the Wall’ Er... perhaps I was wrong, no sooner had the song started, I was already wondering which of their ancestors Lil’ Wayne could be connected to, since the boys had no problem with his vocabulary. Whaat! I had to pause for a moment.... As I come pause, I enter my mind for some time, I shout ‘Chissos!!” like three times, I come compose myself. Me wey I dey get guilty conscience say make I no spoil una, see as una wan spoil me? Anytime wey I play dis song, I dey go do confession. Chai! See wetin TRACE TV don cause! Issorait... I came back to the present, they were already moving on with Bruno Mars. I thanked God for a brief moment, at least they knew the songs already so I couldn’t possibly be responsible for this, that’s my alibi... They kept oppressing me till the song ended, so I endured it. The next two songs were by Owl City, so I gladly returned the favour. They were silent as I moved on in lyrics from Fireflies to Vanilla Twilight... I laff inside my mind, dem go know say, no matter how many new clothes pikin get, e no fit get rags pass im elders... The next track was by One Direction, so I thought it unwise to continue the competition... P.S.: Micheal Jackson, sleep on, the girls loved your Speechless...
