So, my father has spent the last few years weighing the chances - TopicsExpress

So, my father has spent the last few years weighing the chances that a second back surgery to fix three fused bones in his lower back is wise or unwise. He has already had one failed surgery and the doctor says this one will be it. Either he will end up in a wheel chair or else recover and be free from the three heavy medications he is on now. He is 73 years old and now must contend with 10 to 20 more years of back pain. He told me he does not want the surgery because he does not want to end up in a wheelchair. It is a hard break. The doctor said this is it. I agree with my father because he already had the surgery and it failed. What says the second will be successful? I believe my vision is too foggy to insist he have it done and be over it! I never had back surgery but have had lower back pain. I trust doctors advice.
