So, my four kids come home from school with food bank donation bags. Now, Im all about supporting the food bank, as well as whatever other charities I can, when I can... But heres the thing. These kids are under all this pressure to fill their bags, class competitions and prizes, which is great... But. Im a single mom with four kids. I get enough child support to barely pay my rent. I work from home, for a very nominal amount. Im perpetually behind on my bills, and most of the time, I can barely afford to feed my own family, let alone the extra kids that show up for lunch half the time. I rely on the food bank sometimes. Amy comes to me after school and says mom, we need to go to the food bank so I can fill up my bag for school sigh... The kids know where were at for the most part, but all they hear is fill up your bags and the whole class gets a prize!. Blargh. How frustrating. End rant. I feel a bit exposed. Oh well, thats just how it is.
